Rice Rotating With Corn

Our friends in a remote village in Peten, Guatemala learned they could grow highland rice in rotation with corn. They were in an endless cycle of slash and burn due to only growing corn. We introduced highland rice as a rotation crop that replenishes the nitrates that the corn uses. Now they have rice and corn.
