We have an incredible opportunity to partner with Rotary and Habitat Honduras! We have had meetings with Rotary International, Rotary Gastonia, NC, Rotary Honduras and Habitat for Humanity Honduras about the tremendous need of children at risk in Honduras. Recently, we met with Rotary San Pedro Sula, Honduras about partnering to construct 100 Sustainable Microfarms in very strategic locations in Honduras. The project will take 5 years to complete and will affect over 1 million children at risk in Honduras.
Honduras is the third poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Although theoretically this means that an individual makes just over $6 a day, the reality is that many Hondurans live with much less. The World Bank reports that nearly 30% of Hondurans live under less than $2 a day and that 60% live under the national poverty line. Further, Honduras is one of the most unequal countries in the world (9th worst) in terms the income distribution, meaning that many people make far less than Honduras’ per capita GDP might suggest.
We invite you to get involved in this exciting opportunity and make a significant impact in the lives of many children at risk!
